In Odesa, a reminder about the missing and captured soldiers - photo report.

A rally in support of the captives and missing defenders of Ukraine took place on Shevchenko Avenue in Odesa. Families came with photographs of their relatives and flags. They emphasize that the greatest pain is silence and uncertainty.
Among the participants of the rally, there are mothers, sisters, wives, and children searching for their missing loved ones. In their hands are photographs of the disappeared, blue and yellow flags, and posters urging not to remain silent. They have no official confirmations, no bodies, no words - only hope that keeps them going for months and even years.
Hanna has been searching for her brother for 23 months. He went missing in the Klishivka-Andriivka area. She says her brother is one of hundreds whose fate remains unknown. 'We were immediately told he was dead, but no body was provided. I didn't believe it - I visited morgues and submitted DNA. Nothing. I'm still waiting. We've become a family with others like us - misfortune has united us. And we don't remain silent,' Hanna shares.
Participants of the rally say they have no official information from the state. They can't find answers even after dozens of inquiries, have no access to databases, and do not receive calls. 'This is a black hole. For the entire direction, there is one fighter from the 22nd brigade who returned. The rest either died or went missing. But there are no bodies, no DNA matches, no confirmations of captivity. This is the worst,' adds Hanna.
Valentina recalls how her brother went missing on February 25, 2024. The comrade of the soldier says he died, but the official investigation showed they simply lost contact with him. There is no information from the state about the military's whereabouts. 'Officially - contact lost. The guys from the brigade say he might have died. But we haven't seen it - and we don't believe it. We wait at home. There are no photos, no confirmations. Alive - as long as we believe,' she says.
Olena Sobitnyak has been searching for her husband for eight months. They last spoke on November 14, 2024. The next day, communication was lost. 'The next day he disappeared from contact, and on the 20th, they told me he didn't return to position. After that - nothing. Complete silence. The message indicated the 25th. But that’s just a formality. We don’t know anything. He said it was scary, that he missed home, and wanted to come back,' the woman recalls.
The protesters urge not to forget those who cannot speak for themselves. Their presence in the squares is a protest against oblivion, indifference, and inaction.
It should be noted that on July 20, two years will have passed since one of the largest shellings of Odesa during the war. We also wrote that a State Border Guard Service soldier was sentenced for refusing to carry out a combat order.
