Hockey player Andres Ambühl set a unique record at the Hockey World Championships during the sixth round match between Switzerland and Hungary. The 20th championships in the player's career helped him place his name among those who will leave a mark in the history of the world championship.
Ambühl plays for the Swiss national team
Ambühl has played 141 matches at the World Championship level before WC-2025, and has also become the oldest player to score a hat-trick in history. In the match against Hungary, he not only opened the scoring in the fifth minute but also scored two goals in the third period, setting a new record.
“I think this is another record that no one will ever break. He [Ambühl] is an incredible guy on the ice, an incredible guy in the locker room. I am very proud of him, very happy that he has achieved such things. It's amazing to see at this age how he is still performing at such a high level,” remarked Christopher Bertschi.
