The Biden administration has decided to lift restrictions that were imposed against Cuba, said White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre. In particular, Biden has determined that Cuba is no longer a sponsor of terrorism. The President also suspended the operation of the 'Libertad' Act, which restricted trade with Cuba, for six months. He also revoked the presidential memorandum from 2017 that established rules for American citizens' interactions with Cuba. The Cuban government also plans to release a significant number of political prisoners. These steps were taken after consultations with world leaders, including from Latin America, and expressing gratitude to the Catholic Church for supporting the Cuban people. The policy of President Biden's administration is aimed at reuniting families, strengthening cultural ties, and supporting independent Cuban entrepreneurs.
