Gas, water, heating, electricity: utility tariffs have soared in Ukraine.

The cost of utilities in Ukraine has increased by 18.6% over the past year. The biggest price hike is observed in electricity - 63.6%.
The State Statistics Service reports that expenses for management services of apartment buildings have increased by 9%. Services for housing maintenance and repair have also risen by 4%, and waste disposal costs have gone up by 3.1%.
However, some utilities have maintained their tariffs at the previous level - water supply, sewage, natural gas, hot water, and heating.
Increase in gas tariffs
According to recent news, a possible increase in gas tariffs is expected in the future. Serhiy Makohon, the former head of Ukraine's Gas Transmission System Operator, in an interview with LIGA.net, mentioned a potential 3% increase in gas prices for consumers starting from 2025. This could happen if the transit of Russian gas through the Ukrainian gas transportation system stops.
Makohon explained that the cost of gas transportation within the internal system could rise from 0.2 UAH to 0.6 UAH per cubic meter. However, at the current market price of 12 UAH per cubic meter, this 40 kopecks increase accounts for less than 3% and should not be a serious issue for consumers.
The expert also compared this potential gas price increase with the recent rise in electricity prices, which reached over 60% this summer, noting that a 5-10% increase in gas prices will not be as critical for the population.
Let us remind you that the current contract for the transit of Russian gas through Ukrainian territory ends at the end of 2024. The Ukrainian side has already stated that it does not plan to extend these agreements.
