NHL club canceled 'Evening of Russian Heritage' due to protests from Ukrainians.


The National Hockey League (NHL) club 'Columbus' canceled the propaganda event 'Evening of Russian Heritage' due to protests from Ukrainian organizations in Ohio, which viewed it as a political action. The event was supposed to take place during the 'Columbus' game against 'Washington' on December 12. In light of the opposition, the club's management decided to cancel the event for safety reasons, returning the sold tickets to fans.
Legendary goalkeeper Dominik Hasek welcomed this decision, emphasizing that it helped save lives and supported the protests against the manifestations of Russian aggression.
Ukraine appealed to the International Association of World Games
The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, and the Sports Committee of Ukraine wrote an official letter to the president of the International Association of World Games, urging to maintain the ban on the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in the XII World Games 2025, which will be held in Chengdu (China).
The letter emphasizes that Russia continues its aggression and violence against the Ukrainian people. Ukraine calls for maintaining sanctions against Russia and Belarus until the aggression ceases and a fair and lasting peace is restored.
Additionally, the Ukrainian side recalled the ban on the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in the World Games 2022. They urged to maintain these restrictions for the upcoming competitions in 2025.
