The Ministry of Social Policy clarified: how to get a subsidy with debts for communal services.

The Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine provided clarification regarding the possibility of reassigning a housing subsidy in the presence of debts for communal services.
The housing subsidy is a targeted state aid intended for paying housing and communal services for the most vulnerable segments of the population. Its purpose is to reduce the burden on the family budget when paying for communal services, writes sud.ua.
However, if a family receiving a subsidy accumulates debts for communal services, this is regarded as misuse of state aid. Therefore, one of the criteria for reassigning the subsidy is controlling the payment discipline of the recipients. In the event of a debt, the provision of the subsidy is terminated.
Nevertheless, the Ministry of Social Policy reports that there is a possibility of gradual debt repayment. To do this, it is necessary to conclude debt restructuring agreements with communal service providers.
Provided there is regular payment of the restructured debt and timely submission of current payments, citizens can expect to receive a subsidy. When applying for a subsidy, it is necessary to provide a copy of the debt restructuring agreement.
The Ministry also notes that the debt for communal services can be restructured for a period of up to 60 months, depending on the amount of debt and the income of the debtor.
Thus, even with existing debts, Ukrainians have the opportunity to receive a housing subsidy, adhering to the conditions of restructuring and timely payment of current payments.
We also remind how internally displaced persons can apply for a subsidy.
