One of the G7 countries will stop using coal in energy.


The only coal power plant in the United Kingdom is closing after 57 years of operation. This closure signifies the end of coal energy use in the country for 142 years. According to the material, 'green' campaign activists consider this a major achievement in reducing carbon emissions and ensuring a 'just transition' for coal industry workers. Energy Minister Michael Shanks noted that coal industry workers can be proud of their work, which has powered the country for many years. The United Kingdom will become the first G7 country to stop using coal in energy.
In addition, the United Kingdom announced new sanctions against five ships and two shipping organizations from Russia. It will also limit Russia's future plans in the liquefied natural gas sector. Earlier, the United Kingdom had already sanctioned 11 maritime vessels transporting oil or petroleum products from Russia to third countries.
