The USA imposed sanctions against Russian banks, and Britain froze the assets of Firtash.


The USA expanded the sanctions list against Russia
The US Treasury's list has over 50 Russian banks, more than 40 organizations involved in securities registration, and 15 officials. Sanctions affect banks such as Gazprombank, 'KS-bank', Energotransbank, 'Kremlinskii' bank, 'Iturup', 'Sinara' and 'Centrokredit'. They also cover senior management of the Central Bank of Russia and officials of the VTB banking group in China. The US Treasury emphasizes that the sanctions are aimed at preventing Russian organizations from using the international financial system to wage war against Ukraine.
Britain has targeted Ukrainian oligarch Dmytro Firtash and his associates
For its part, Britain announced the introduction of sanctions against Dmytro Firtash. According to British authorities, he extracted hundreds of millions of pounds from Ukraine through corrupt schemes and control over gas distribution. His wife Lada Firtash and financial intermediary Denis Horbunenko, who are involved in Firtash's corrupt activities, have also been sanctioned. The UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy stated the unwavering fight against corruption and money obtained illegally. He emphasized that the sanctions are the first step in this strategy. The assets of the mentioned individuals have been frozen and travel bans imposed.
