Thousands of crabs washed ashore at Tuzlivski Lymany in Odesa region.

On the shore of the Black Sea in the 'Tuzlivski Lymany' National Park, a rare phenomenon occurred: sea waves washed ashore tens of thousands of swimming crabs, among which were females with eggs.
Ecologist Ivan Rusev reported this on his Facebook.
Waves washed out the crabs
According to Ivan Rusev, the sea threw many swimming crabs (Portunus pelagicus) onto the sand at the 'Tuzlivski Lymany' National Nature Park. This happened due to the upwelling of cold water from the depths.
Some crabs were saved
Among the washed-up crabs, there were many with eggs. Park employees and local residents tried to save as many crabs as possible by returning them to the water.
This phenomenon is quite rare and is associated with changes in water temperature and wind currents that bring cold water layers to the surface, causing the crabs to wash ashore.
What is known about swimming crabs
Swimming crabs are excellent swimmers, with the fourth pair of legs resembling paddles. They often live in large colonies in deep waters.
It is worth reminding that the Magalevsky Lyman dried up in the Odesa region, while the Kuyalnytsky Lyman turned into a pink-raspberry wonder.
Reports of the washout of swimming crabs on the shores of the Black Sea in the 'Tuzlivski Lymany' National Park have amazed many. Marine phenomena can be extremely interesting and even amazing, especially when they support the biodiversity of the marine environment.Read also
