The British Navy has detected the Russian spy ship 'Yantar'
Defense Minister John Healey reported that the Russian spy ship 'Yantar' was spotted by the Royal Navy in the English Channel. The ship was first noticed in the North Sea in November 2024.
According to the minister, 'Yantar' is used for gathering intelligence and mapping the underwater infrastructure of the United Kingdom. On January 20, the ship entered the UK's economic zone about 45 miles off the coast, prompting the Royal Navy to deploy ships to monitor 'Yantar'.
It is worth noting that on January 10, following the U.S. announcement of new sanctions, about 65 oil tankers worldwide dropped anchor.
