Prices for corn on the global market, particularly on the Chicago exchange, have dropped to a minimum this week due to expectations of a high harvest in the US. This is reported by Reuters.
How corn prices have changed
According to the article, prices for December corn contracts remain higher than the level in 2024, but considering inflation, they are now at their lowest level since July 2006.
The average price of December corn futures on the Chicago exchange at the beginning of July 2025 was $4.21 per bushel, which is lower than in 2024. At the same Time, the price of corn in the US increased at the beginning of the week, but compared to the annual peak, it lags by 10%.
- Sales of December corn are currently priced 10% lower than the average price in February.
Corn prices in Ukraine
In contrast to global trends, corn prices in Ukraine continue to rise. According to the portal Tripoli.land, the price of corn in Ukraine increased by 139 hryvnias per ton from July 17 to 18 and amounts to 9.7 thousand hryvnias per ton.
In 2025, there is no forecast for a grain shortage in Ukraine, but it is expected that the harvest will be sufficient not only for domestic consumption but also for export.
