Zakhrova staged a tantrum over the inclusion of hockey player Ovechkin in the 'Peacemaker' database.

Ukraine has classified Alexander Ovechkin as a 'Peacemaker', - Russian Foreign Ministry
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova loudly commented on the inclusion of hockey player Alexander Ovechkin in the 'Peacemaker' website database. According to her, 'The Kyiv regime does not see human faces – their eyes are filled with hatred and misanthropic ideology.'
It should be noted that Ovechkin ended up on this list due to his support for the Russian government in its dispute with Ukraine and its citizens. The website also emphasizes that Ovechkin is a supporter and close to Putin.
«Participation in international competitions with the aim of whitewashing the reputation (sportwashing) of Russia, spreading disinformation, justifying and legitimizing aggression against Ukraine among foreign audiences, ensuring pathways for establishing international relations and cooperation circumventing sanctions by demonstrating the preservation of Russia's presence in the civilized world within international sports committees and federations».
Highlighted tension in Russia-Ukraine relations
In addition to the news, it can be said that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine affects various spheres of life, including sports, and the inclusion of Ovechkin in the 'Peacemaker' database only underscores the tension in relations between these countries.
