Foreign service will be considered for pension: Ukrainians were explained an important nuance

Ukrainians can now take into account foreign service for receiving a pension from the Ukrainian system. According to the new law, foreign insurance experience will now only be considered for determining the right to a pension, not for calculating its size.

“The insurance experience acquired outside Ukraine is only considered for determining the right to a pension. It does not affect the amount of payments,” notes expert Serhiy Korobkin.

According to the new rules, if a Ukrainian's total experience meets the requirements, they can receive their pension on Time. For example, if a person has 25 years of experience in Ukraine and 7 years abroad, they can apply for a pension at the age of 60.

How to obtain and legalize the necessary documents

To count foreign service towards the Ukrainian pension, you need to have an official document from the employment country confirming the periods of work and payment of social contributions. There are two ways to obtain such documents: to apply directly to the pension authority of another state or to submit a request to the service center of the Pension Fund of Ukraine.

Once you receive the documents, they must be legalized to be legally valid. The legalization procedure depends on the international agreements between Ukraine and the country where you worked. This might be a simplified procedure, an apostille, or consular legalization of the documents.

Pension reform in Ukraine has allowed Ukrainians to consider foreign service for receiving pensions. It is now important to have official documents confirming working periods abroad and to legalize them in time for them to be acceptable to the Ukrainian pension fund.
