Land from the state: who will have access to a plot of 2 hectares in 2025.


Ukrainians can receive up to 2.28 hectares of land free of charge
According to the Land Code of Ukraine, every adult citizen of Ukraine has the opportunity to receive up to 2.28 hectares of land free of charge. This land plot can be sold in the future.
During the martial law in the country, the transfer of state and communal land into private ownership is prohibited, as well as obtaining permits for the development of documentation for this transfer. Land acquisition is only possible after the end of martial law.
Participants in hostilities, war invalids, and family members of the deceased have priority in the allocation of land plots for personal residential construction, gardening, and horticulture. However, such land allocation is only possible if the person has not previously privatized land for this purpose.
Sizes of free land plots
- Up to 2 hectares for personal farming;
- Up to 12 ares for gardening;
- Up to 25 ares for the construction and maintenance of residential houses, utility buildings, and structures in villages (up to 15 ares in towns and up to 10 ares in cities);
- Up to 10 ares for constructing a summer house;
- Up to 1 are for garages;
- Up to the size of the land share allocated for members of agricultural enterprises, for farming.
Individuals wishing to receive a land plot free of charge in private ownership must apply to the relevant executive authority or local self-government bodies authorized to allocate land plots into private ownership.
To obtain a plot, it is necessary to choose the required area on the cadastral map and contact the territorial offices of the State Geocadastre, as well as local councils on land management issues.
Participants in hostilities, war invalids, and other individuals are exempt from paying land tax.
